SYNDROME MOMENTS INTRODUCTION

Dear Lord,
Give me a few friends who will love me for what I am,
and keep ever burning before my vagrant steps the kindly light of hope...
And though I come not within sight of the castle of my dreams,
teach me to be thankful for life, and for time's olden memories that are good and sweet.
And may the evening's twilight find me gentle still.

"Out of suffering... emerge the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars."  ~Kahlil Gibran~

"This is my wish for you: Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart, hugs when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe, confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth, Love to complete your life.”

2008

Welcome to my journal.  I have shared my life and thoughts living with Stiff Person Syndrome for four years - 2004 through 2007.  My journal is a personal expression of caring outreach...an I understand.  I remember the fear, loneliness, and questions I had when I received my SPS diagnosis in 1994 following four years of progressive symptoms.  It is my hope reading bits of my journey will give you some comfort, answers, and most importantly, hope.  Life can go on..."in spite of."

After some serious contemplation, I feel it is time to discontinue my journal for now.  I hope to focus on my pilgrimage of life's second act.  As always, SPS will accompany me, a demented Siamese twin sharing my breath, heartbeat, and life.  He keeps me in a constant flux, but not defeat.  I remain optimistic, curious, searching...alive.  Living forward.

May today gift you with one memory worth reliving, one thing to bring a smile,
the chance to share love, and the wisdom to recognize opportunity.

Debbie

May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.
